Of late there has been a perceptible trend to treat the bauls and their songs as merely a segment of the folk culture of Bengal, albeit one with a much larger fanfare than the others, presented for the entertainment of the sophisticated urban audience. In the process their popular philosophic tradition, of providing a heretic counterpoint to the sectarian scholastic scriptures of both Hindu and Islamic religious establishments, is often forgotten.

Open source media is a bit tough thing to conceptualize and probably that is the reason for it to be in the nascent state even today, after so many years of successful application of open source software movement. Open source software movement is based on the Open Source philosophy which gives the author the right to retain her work with her, with a right to the end user to modify and redistribute the source code according to her need and, probably point of view.

They started firing all cylinders and the success was not far away from them. Overnight, the hibernated opposition of bengal came into the limelight. If one can take a careful look on bengal political scenario from that point of time, a peculiar trend can be easily identified.
With crude oil price reaching a new peak of more than $ 95 (Rs. 3800) per barrel (1 barrel=159 litre), there is again talk of diesel and petrol price rise in the country. Petrol, diesel, LPG, kerosene, etc are produced from the processing of crude oil in the refineries of Reliance petrochemicals, Indian Oil Corporation and some other companies. The oil refineries are demanding an increase in prices of petroleum products and other measures to ensure maximum profits for themselves. The government is seeking to transfer the burden of the increased import cost of crude oil to the backs of the working people in various ways, while protecting the interests of the refinery monopolies.
